  1. Get a nice big one- one about the size of Syria.

  2. Do NOT get a rotastak. They are way too small even for a dwarf hamster, your Syrian will be extremely cramped inside....not to mention these cages have very poor airflow and ventilation and the wheels that come with them are too small. (you need at least an 8 inch wheel)

Syrians need alot of space to run around, so a bin cage would be best or a 20 gallon long tank. Trust me, once you fill it up with toys and a wheel, there won't be alot of space left. Bins are really the best option as they are customizable, CHEAP, and have lots of space if you get the biggest you can find. You can also have fun adding on smaller bins to make little dens and other areas to explore.

    Good luck!

  3. you have to get a rotastak for a syrian, ive had loads and it gives them alot of fun and exercise, russian dwarfs are too small for rotastak as they struggle to climb the tubes. but just start off small and every time you have a spare bit of money buy an add on for it, this is what i did and now my rotastak is 3 levels high and every level has about 4 section, it takes up half the office, but the hamster ( named halifax) loves it :-D

  4. Definately get a Rotastak! They are by far the best, as you can keep adding to them to make them more interesting. Mine loves it's windy tubes, and shoots through them backwards and forwards all night.

I have tried other cages before but from my experience the hamsters tend to chew through parts of them, or get bored.

  5. I personally think the best is one you make yourself out of a bin. Bin cages are pretty popular now:

  6. I think you should get a rotastak cage. I have one for my hamster and it is the best! They come with several rooms and tubes and wheels. If you have looked on pet shop websites the rotastak cages will cost alot but go on ebay if you have an account as I got "pirate ship" rotastak cage for £19.99 with £6 postage on ebay and it would have costed £55 in pet shops and websites. Rotastaks are very safe to stop your hamster escaping as they have anti knaw rings on the tubes to stop your hamster going through them. They look great, and you can add to them and change them around. My hamster loves it and I am sure your new syrian hamster would too.

    I hope this helped!

  7. i say rotastak you start with a simple cage with a wheel and a bed then when you have more money but a new room and tubes to connect it with then add some more when you have more money and before you know it you have a big cage for a cute pet

  8. I would recommend a Crittertrail Two, it's got enough room for a Syrian, and you can attach Fun-nels and extra rooms.  Crittertrails are not too expensive and are similar to Rotastak, but don't get one off those as they are all plastic and get very poor ventilation.

    Hope I helped.

If you live in the US you're looking at about $50-65 in total for everything
