look up geo-thermal heating and cooling... ground is way cooler in summer then outside air and in winter way warmer then outside...and there are grants from government

Consider a dual-fuel heat pump. It provides the benefits of both a gas heater and a heat pump. Gas is extrememly effecient at quickly raising the temperature in a house, however a heat pump works very well at maintaining an already warm home. The gas will also be used when the temperature outside dips below 32 degrees, the temperate that a heat pump starts to lose effeciency.

If you have the ability, you can look into a geothermal heat pump which is very effecient.

Brand doesn't matter as much as someone doing a proper installation.  Unless you are asking wether a heat pump is better than a heat exchanger.  And then that is personal preferance.
