What is the best hotel group to join. I have been using triprewards, but it takes forever to earn a free room.

I like the Marriott Rewards program.  They have lots of different hotels at different price points and sizes (Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, Springhill Suites, etc. etc.).  Points add up pretty fast!

I like the Hilton Honours program, a world wide hotel group with good hotels in most major cities. Points and air-miles are offered for the same stay.
