Try TripAdvisor.com. We found the Coral Princess that way and really liked it, although we were only staying for one day before going to a resort. It was charming.

In my opinion I think that San Juan Hotel and Casino is great. It is pretty, affordable and modern!! On the other hand El Convento is another great hotel that has an excellent service however, its structure is inspired in colloquial style which I don't like so much, but it is located in a good place "Old San Juan" which I love, so all depends in what you are looking. But both are affordable!!!!!

Hotel El Convento is awesome! When i went to my cousins wedding there last November we stayed at the el Convento. It is probably the nicest hotel i have ever stayed at! they have a courtyard inside of the hotel that is basically not inclosed at all and all the rooms overlook that. It is in Old San Juan so u have a lot of options of things to do. It is very close to the ocean and el Morro(the old fort).

It is very affordable for all that u are getting. prices range from $149 per night to $319 per night. I would also suggest eating in their restaraunt, they have amazing tapas!

If u are looking to stay in the main part of San Juan then stay at the westin hotel. Although it is very nice, it is expensive and there is not nearly as much to do in new San Juan as there is in Old San Juan.

and make sure u visit el morro and the beach, rainforest and shooping distric of old san juan atleast once!!!
