  1. You want the best you've got to pay for it. All these freebies are all well and good but they really don't give a monkey's because they get paid whether you get infected or not. Proved time and time again on here, by I've got this, I got that. Well if it was doing it's job properly you wouldn't get it, would you?

If you pay for one at least they have a moral obligation to get it right. I pay for one and I have had nothing on mine for eight years, because it does it all. I don't need this, this, this and this. One program, one complete job.

  2. Can't go wrong with ZoneAlarm

  3. agree with Matt.. Kapsersky's the best.

  4. Whoever did that review with Norton at the top must be paid by Norton, its the worst piece of c**p I have seen , we rate having Norton worst than having a virus.

Kaspersky is ok, Panda also good, but each has their good/bad points.

  6. Hi Matt,

It's difficult to find an all in one suite that provides excellent protection against all things.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and Spybot - Search & Destroy, both are very good programs and working together with windows defender aswell makes it a very secure system (not 100%!)

I use Vista Home Premium, you didn't specify which you use, and i find that when installing new software, Kaspersky takes a long time to allow it through to make registry changes etc., i also find the notification pop ups irritating as it lets you know when it allows safe files (Nice to know it's doing the job i guess!).

Spybot is also a good free anti-spyware utility; nothing really bad to report with that, user friendly, light, fast, and actually finds and removes nearly all spyware infections.

I haven't ventured into free-standing firewalls yet as i don't think i need to, Kaspersky & Vista firewalls do the job perfectly for me!I have heard a lot of good things about ZoneAlarm though

    Hope this helps

P.S. Look on ebay for cheap product codes to Kaspersky

  7. To be honest ive used most anti viruses and firewalls

speaking to a friend who works for part of microsoft he recommended i used kapsersky anti-virus and zonealarm pro firewall since then i have had no hackers or viruses i highly recommend this

  8. I always thought windows live one care is the best and it has a 90 day free trail, but after like 70 days it gets annoying and I just unistalled it. But it gets all the viruses and everything away so you want need an anti-virus program any more anyways. It also has tune-up and a good firewall!
