  1. Oahu babbyy (:

ehe, it's jst my opinion b'cuhs i live in oahu.

It's fun and i see a lot of people, such as tourists having fun too.

  2. The best island in Hawaii is Oahu. Honolulu( Hawaii's biggest city) is in Oahu and all the tourist and fun sections are on the island.

  3. Kauai

  4. if your into shopping and fancy stuff with a little nature go to honolulu, if your into nature and a lot of beaches go to kauai, dont go to hilo unless your used to being bored maybe kona, and if you like to kick back and have city life go to maui

  5. It depends on what you want to visit for and what you expect from your vacation.

I was born and raised on Oahu for 20 years and I live there now but I can honestly say that it is much, much more industrialized and crowded than what you would imagine "Hawaii" to be.  Like the people above mentioned, Oahu is a great place for tourism and there are a lot of things to do there as well as a lot of shopping and eating options.  If you want to see museums and go to luaus and learn the culture and shop at the malls and basically, be with people, then Oahu is your thing.

However, if you imagine your vacation to be really peaceful, quiet, lounging on beaches and doing water sports or hiking or all that good stuff, I'd definitely recommend Maui.  If it helps, Maui is often where the celebrities go when they visit Hawaii :)  You can get privacy there, for sure.  It's a beautiful place, though it might not have as much to do  (non-water/sports-wise) as Oahu.  I haven't been there in awhile though, so it might have changed a bit.

The exception is if you stayed in quieter places of Oahu, farther from the main tourist areas, like up at North Shore.  It'd be a bit more peaceful than the main island area while still having opportunities to do tourist-y things, but it still won't be like Maui, I'm sure.

Kauai is beautiful but it rains a LOT there so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for a first timer, unless you get really lucky or you really love a lot of rain (the rain in Hawaii is really nice though!)

    Good luck!

  6. Oahu (Honolulu).. there's more places to go, alot more shopping, better things to see! very good food, nice people, You'd love it there!!

  7. Maui, Oahu is definitely not what you expect a hawaiian island to be with the skyscrapers and overpopulation. But if thats what you like i say go for it.

  8. Oahu for sure.  If you just want to relax and get away from the maddening Waikiki crowd, go to Koolina Resort on the Waianae Coast about 30 miles west of Waikiki off the H-1 freeway west.  Gorgeous place.  Nice Lagoons, good food, pool, big rooms, ocean, golf.

The Pro Bowl players always stay there.

  9. I suppose it depends on what you like to do.  Oahu is the most densely populated and has a bunch of touristy type things to do.  It even has a water park not too away from the cities.  I love the North Shore though which is well away from the crowds of Honolulu and Waikiki and has great beaches.  There's lots to do on Oahu and if you don't mind taking The Bus, you can get around the island cheaply.

Maui is alright and is a little less busy than Oahu.  The Road to Hana is a must if you go there.  Get someone else to drive though so you can actually see the amazing sights otherwise you'll be concentrating on the road three feet in front of your car.  You can get on one of the tours that goes that way as well but I prefer the freedom to do my own thing.  The town of Lahaina is a great place to visit for the day to look at the local artists selling their work under the big Banyan tree in the centre of town by the Old Courthouse.

The Big Island has a lot to offer but there is very little infrastructure there so don't expect much in the way of luxuries outside the main cities.  Volcano National Park is amazing and you can do a bike tour from the top of the mountain as well which is fun.  The black sand beaches are a site to see.  Kona is definitely a place to go if you're a coffee lover.  Very picturesque town.

Lana'i is VERY pretty.  The garden island.  I had a lot of fun renting a car and driving up the coast.  You can also take a hiking tour up the Na' Pali coastal mountains.  Awe inspiring.

All in all, I don't think you can go wrong in Hawai'i, especially if you love the outdoors.  There's really too much to write about to fit in to an adequate answer, especially not knowing what you're looking for.  If you can give me a little more information as far as what you're likes and dislikes are, I could give you a more accurate answer.  Email me at aait@rogers.com if you'd like.

  10. MAUI.

It has a little bit of everything.

  11. The guy above me has NO idea what he is talking about. When he says Lanai he means KAUAI. Lanai has no Napali Coast and it is NOT the garden isle. Kauai is.
