There are people with PHD's working in the post office. If your degree isn't in something that makes you employable, you take whatever job will pay the bills.

If you are intelligent, and you want to teach second-graders or work in a factory or be a stay-at-home mother/father, that works just as well as being a doctor because you will do best what you are motivated to do. Intelligence is relative...just because someone is intelligent doesn't mean they would be a successful heart surgeon or engineer. The best job for an intelligent person would be their ideal job...the job that would rock their world.
