I have no knowledge of records whatsoever. I don't know anything about speeds, types, brands, etc. What is the best? What is the most common?

  1. If all you want to do is listen to some old vinyl LP's or 45's, go to WalMart, Target, K-Mart or Sears. They have these "all-in-one" Record Player - CD - AM/FM - Cassette players, with a retro-wood cabinet. Some of them even have an input jack to connect your IPOD. At the very least, you'll be able to listen to the vinyl's and decide whether or not you want to invest in a better turntable.

If you want something more serious, go to Radio Shack. Talk to the salesman about what you want to do with it, and he'll guide you in the right direction.
