What is the best kind of beer to go with chili?

Our company is having a chili cook-off this Friday, and we need to find a good beer to go with all the chili that will be consumed. Any and all suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

You want a cold beer.  I say go for a light beer just because that way you can eat more chili and not get as full.  

I say Miller Lite is always a safe bet.  I love drinking it with my chili.

You could go authentic mexican and have a mexican beer to go with it such as Corona or Sol, I especially like Sol, it has a really nice fresh taste to it :)

I'd personally go with an IPA, the oils from the hops have a way with spicy foods that other beverages do not.  You'll want IPAs with a good balance of malt to hops though, too much focus on the hops can actually intensify the heat in my experience (Longhammer IPA, Avery 11).

I suggest Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, Bell's 2 Hearted, and Victory Hop Devil.  The malt bill will compliment the chili while the hop profile will cut through the heat a bit.

I love Sam Adams but I'd go with something lighter and cooler to go with hot, thick and spice.

Depends...if it's a bunch of yankee posers trying to make what they think is "chili", then any old swill will do. But...if you're really making chili, the the only beer to drink...is...Shiner Boch.

I'd suggest something light. Depending on your crowd I'd say the New Bud Light Lime, or Miller chill. Those to go down easy and they are very refreshing. If you're group isnt into that sort of stuff than I'd say Blue moon, or just good ole' coors light.

I think a light beer goes better...Amstel Light, Stella Artois, but you could def go with a darker beer...
