i have been wearing eye glasses for 23 years now and I haven't tried contacts because I'm afraid that it might fall off or my eyes will have an allergic reaction to it. But now, I'm willing to use contacts but I don't know which kind is available in the philippine market. thanks

  1. i 've been wearing glasses like forever and had just started using contacts a few weeks ago.

And like you i was afraid of it falling from my eyes or allergy from all that i saw in the internet.

    But dont worry.

Go to a good optical shop and make sure the optometrist is a licensed one. They are qualified to do eye check up on your eyes to check your tears quality (for any dry eyes), the condition of ur eye, whehter it's healthy etc. any qualified optometrist will sit with you throughout the trying on procedure to make sure it fits and that you are not getting any allergic reaction.

the person will recommend you what kind of lens you should wear. there are different types of lens...for me im wearing soft contact lens, B&L purevision toric lens with astig correction.

There are some types catering for long hours, overnight(not recommended)or for short hours wearer.

Buy monthly ones...they're much cheaper :p but astig lens tends to be more costly than the normal ones.

for now, you can check out the websites of your home town optical shops and see what kind of lens they offer.

I'm sure there will be a variety of them in your hometown's market. :)

  2. I use purevision toric lenses for astigmatism.  I am not sure if they are available in your market, but they likely are.

    Good Luck!

  3. The answer is....there is no answer.  It all depends on the type and severity of astigmatism you have.  Most people can wear a soft, disposable version, of which there are many varieties on the market.  Some do better in a rigid version.  You'll need to ask your eye doctor which is best for you.

  4. I have an astigmatism in my left eye and I have been a soft contact lens wearer for the last 18 years.  I love my contact lens!

Check with your eye doctor and get the Rx from the doc.  It's different from a Rx for glasses.

Ask your doc what soft contact he/she recommends you get and try them out.  If you like them alot and don't want to pay the high price for them, check out online stores.

    Good Luck Kiddo ;-D
