It depends on your type of riding ie if you freeride get a freeride board etc. If you are a new rider the best kind if board to get is an all mountain board as it can be used for all types of riding freestyle, freeriding and powder. Once you have learned the basics etc and are comfortable on a board, you can then decide if you need a more specialised board that may suit your prefered type of riding better.
