  1. the best starter tortoise is a horsefield (russian) they are a hardy tortosie and are easy to care for here is a site you can go to type in russian tortoise.org (sorry can't link at the moment as computer was reformated yesterday and can't post links at the moment) you will see how to care for a tortoise and they are pretty common although i do not know if you can get them in Australia but you can look at different types of tortosie and their care at www.tortosietrust.org, best of luck honey hope you find a tortoise they are great pets.

  2. Honestly I would say stay away from aquatic turtles such as red-eared sliders. They are very messy. They are cheap, but you have to have a water pump. A filter. A heater. Then you have to clean food and c**p out of their swimming water.

  3. SULCATA TORTOISE NO DOUBT!

  4. I used to own Terrapins. But I'm not really a tortoise expert. Try maybe a goverment website of something. I hope this helps.

    sorry i couldn'y find much

  5. the Russian tortoise stays small and it is considerably easier to care for. their attitude and personality makes it a fun tortoise-companion to have.
