  1. superworms (mine plays a type of fetch where I throw the worm and he runs to eat it), mealworms are ok if you feed a few (4 or 5 at once), goliath worms, silk worms, wax worms, butter worms. As long as the worm is small enough they can be feed them at any age.  Just don't overfeed and give them crickets and greens as well and you'll have a heatlhy dragon.

  2. I second that reply.

Silkworms and roaches are by-far the best thing that you can feed your beardie of any size. They are a little harder to take care of but it is so worth it.

  3. Superworms (NOT mealworms) are excellent for bearded dragons over 12 inches long.  Phoenix worms are high in calcium but they are small and more expensive, but still an excellent food.  Silkworms are soft and squishy and a great food too, but you have to feed them a special food that you can order when you buy them on-line.  Wax worms should only be fed occasionally as they are high in fat.  Other possibilities include hornworms and lobster roaches.

  4. Butterworms!  They are soft and squishy (easy to digest), pretty small in size (you can start offering butterworms when your beardie is 7+ inches long), they have an appealing smell, and best of all, they are packed with nutrients.

And as a bonus for you, the provider, they are easy to keep alive.  You can keep them refrigerated for about a month before they die, and they don't need any kind of food or water.

The only thing better than butterworms, from my experience, are silkworms.  However, silkworms are much bigger and require a certain amount of care to keep them alive.  AND they don't keep as long; when you buy them big they only stay like that for about a week before they turn in to cocoons.

So Basically...  My beardies will literally jump to get butterworms or silkworms from me when I hand-feed them.  They absolutely love them and they are the most nutritious things you can feed them.
