Well, I have to admit, I prefer Hoegaarden, or Leffe.....they have a unique taste, but may be a bit of an acquired taste.........I like them anyway!

I don't really drink lager but on the occasions I do I drink Carlsberg Grosh (sp), and Kronenberg (sp) 1668 and even then I have to add a top. I'm not to keen on the lager because to me it tastes like something is fermenting in my stomach.

Lagers are bottom fermented beers and ales are top fermented beers. Lagers are fermented at much colder temps and usually take much longer to maturity. Those that add adjuncts (IE: cheaper ingredients like rice or corn stay away from, lets say for example one that has been in the news lately that has some potential to be sold) However those that adhere to a strict 4 ingredient law are worth a try.

The best is a beer called Cerna Hora, its from the Czech Republic and its flavoured with honey, gorgeous, its quite strong so gets you hammered too which is handy.

Brains Bitter is an ale.  German beer is produced under the Barvarian Purity Law and nothing is allowed in their beer but barley malt, yeast, and water.  There is an exception for heffeweissen because it is made from wheat.

For a pilsner, I would reccomend Pilsner Urquell.  It has the clean pilsner taste, the maltiness is well balanced by the bitter of the hops, and you can find it in most US locations.

german beer tends to be of a higher quality than most others they use less chemicals and sometimes none atall.

Brains Bitter is not a lager. Like it's name would suggest - It's a Bitter!

I'd go for Becks (as one that's easy to find around the world) as it's brewed to the old German purity laws and has no junk in it that can make you feel bad if you overdo it.

. Budvar (the Czech beer) is excellent, full flavoured and refreshing especially on a summers day. Most mexican bottled beers are also very good on a warm day - things like Dos Equis, Sol and Corona, especially with a bit of lime.

Stella sends you loopy and gives you a terrible hangover. I'd steer clear, but if you are going to try it, don't drink more than two or three or you'll regret it and quite possibly wake up in a jail cell...
