First of all there is no such thing as "the best laptop brand" because it all depends on the hardware you're buying, Toshiba, HP, Sony, Acer, Fujitsu Siemens all make both low-end and high end laptops, so It depends if you want performance go with a high-end laptop be it any brand, other wise just you can just stick to the basics.

i'd say technically (and obviously the most expensive)dell, but i prefer hp pavillion and sony viao.

As someone else said HP, Sony & Toshiba are  good  too.

Don't know where your from but may be best if you can get it from your own country.

I bought one in the uk, it was £140 less than i would pay here & i have a 3year guarantee.
