I live in the UK so UK based brands would be best. I also have two male kittens.

  2. You should get another litter box. Male cats mark things, and may be marking the litter box because they smell the other cat's urine in it. The best thing for odor control is plain old baking soda. Just sprinkle a little over the top every time you clean or change the litter. It's completely safe for your cat too.

Also, cats don't really like hooded boxes. I can understand why you'd want to use it, but your cats would rather p**p/pee without being in a bathroom stall.

  3. Do you have Tidy Cats with cystals?  Not the crystals only type, but the kind with litter and crystals.  Also baking soda mixed in the litter will help.  Also giving it a GOOD cleaning and scraping everyday to help the odor stay down.  I have four cats in a two bedroom apartment, and have had NO problem with odors - and I've had the manager come in several time to check (since we get used to the smell).  It's all in keeping the box clean everyday.

  4. Don't know UK brands...

but using baking soda in the litter helps a lot!

Also cleaning out the box with bleach then replace with clean litter w/ the BS added is good.

  5. If you have two kittens you should have 3 litter boxes (FYI).  Especially if you have boy cats- boy cats mark their territory with urine and will not go pee where another boy cat has gone.

As far as what type of litter, try using a crystal litter since it absorbs odors more effectively that clay or scoopable.
