  1. Hi all! I haven't been answering (or asking) in a while...I've been so caught up in class! Anyway, I have just tried implmenting magazines into my classroom this year, and so far everything has been going well! I like to put them in centers sometimes or have a class activity with them. I've subscribed to a lot of magazines, and here are my 5 favorites:

1.) Preschool Playroom - this has a pull out work book that my kids love to do!

2.) Wild Animal Baby- this magazine always attracts many of my kids! They love the stories and enjoy the little animals.

3.) Nick Jr. Family - probably a little too advanced for 2 years, but still a good magazine for everyone. My kindergarteners enjoy it because they like to recognize the TV characters in the magazine.

4.) National Geographic Little Kids - again, this might be a little advanced, but your child will love to look at the colorful pictures. This magazine might be a great way to spend time with your son, as you can read him the descriptions about each animal.

5.) Sesame Street - although I grew out of this magazine in my classroom (I guess 5 and 6 year olds aren't big fans of Sesame Street anymore!), this will be perfect for your toddler. This magazine has lots of games and puzzles for your son to do.

  2. Big Backyard and Highlights

  3. Hi-five is a magazine from highlights for little kids.

  4. There isn't one two year olds don't need to read.

  5. nick (nickelodeon) magazine

  6. Wow, they make magazines for 2 year olds? I didn't know that. He might still be a little young, but when I was a kid I loved Highlights magazine. It's very educational, teaches manners, and is just plain fun!

  7. Highlights Playground. It has a lot of searches for objects that when found you can attach stickers. My daughter is 3 1/2 and has been using it for about a year.

  8. I agree with DJ. One of my friends has the same magazines and our daughter loves them.

  9. Our daughter is 2 and loves the two magazines her grandma subscribed for her.

    1. Highlights High Five (younger version of Highlights): there are simple stories, games, puzzles, finger plays, simple hidden pictures, etc. This magazine is designed for toddlers. We all enjoy looking at and reading this magazine. She comes back to them as often as she does her books. She also gets really excited when we go somewhere (Dr office) and they have the same magazine.

    2. Your Big Backyard (published by National Wildlife Federation) another magazine designed for very young children. Lots of cuddly photos of animals, basic facts, simple funny stories, etc. She has come back months later and told us facts about a particular animal we read about in this magazine.

Either of these would be a great pick. Good luck and enjoy. :)
