What is the best make and model of HDTV converter to buy?

I don't want to buy a new TV when HDTV is mandatory in Feb. '09. I've ordered the discount coupons from the US Government at the following URL:

Someone I know bought a GE, which sounds like a good name, but you get more channels on HDTV and this GE box changes channels slowly.

What might be a better make and model?

  1. I think your getting some of your info confused. In 09 hdtv will not be mandated just digital will be mandated. Digital does not equal hdtv. The box your looking to get is is just a digital converter. If you have a service provider now (comcast, time warner, dish network, directv etc) connected to the tv in question you wont have a problem. If you have the tv just connected to a ant then the digital converter will be necessary. As to which converter is better in the next...honestly it doesnt matter. It just a digital converter you wont notice the difference in quality from one to the other.

    **edit**

The channel changing aspect of it I dont know. You would have to test them all indiviually or hope that enough people have a wid eenough variety to get a good answer. Also on here whats fast to some could be mind-numbingly slow to others.
