My daughter has played for 3 years but wants to stay with closed hole and needs to use it in pep band, marching band, concert band, ratings band, and in competitions.

  1. If you go to www.fluteworld.com. you will see a wide variety of flutes that are good for your daughter.  Since this flute is going OUTSIDE, however, I would advise getting something used for THAT purpose - maybe a Jupiter or entry-level Pearl or Emerson - or Yamaha - and if she aspires to  higher level of playing then consider an open-hole, off-set G , B foot flute for study/lessons and concert work.  She can leave the plugs in until she is accustomed to removing them, one by one.  She should have a better instrument that STAYS in good adjustment for competition and concerts, but can play an older, sturdier instrument outdoors.

I wish her much luck in her flute playing and studies.  Of course, the MOST important thing is a good private teacher!
