What is the best marker to use on a t-shirt for peoples names?

I have one shirt I bought for a cruise I am going on. Its 100% cotten and it already has the ship logo on the front. I want everyone thats going to write there names on the back. What should I use and how do i keep it from bleeding when they write on it. And I should I wash it first before they do so. This is probably the last time i will be going on a trip with everyone at one time and my first cruise. I will be moving one year afterwards and don't plan to see anyone again. so i won't to keep this shirt for memories.

sharpie permanent markers are the best and only in my opinion for signing anything. Almost all the famous people use them for autographing because they are permanent and they don't bleed much.

Use a "Rub-A-Dub" laundry marker. They work fairly well since that's what they were made for :P

You can pick them up just about anywhere. If it's not in the office supplies section of the store, check the laundry section.

If you don't want it to bleed, you'll need to put a piece of cardboard IN the shirt - that also makes it easier to just hand to people. That way, everyone will have something hard to write on, and it won't bleed through to the OTHER side...

And use Sharpies or other permanent markers.

Either way, you shouldn't wear/wash the shirt too often, or the names will eventually fade.

Bring along a thick Sharpie. They come in the clearest colors and they dry like you will not believe it.

No, you don't have to wash the shirt before hand, but after you get it signed and you take it home, wash inside out and hang up to dry.

Also, bring a bunch of Sharpies in a bunch of colors. Tee-shirts are boring if everyone only signed in black. Pack up some red and blue and whatever else you really like. And, I know from experience that when you show up with a bunch of Sharpies to sign shirts, people will take them to use for themselves. Make sure that no one walks off with your markers!
