  1. First a street fight won't be one on one. Street fight takes place in a ring with no rules. As soon as homeboy realizes his main dawg is getting the beat down, he'll either jump in there and beat the wadding out someone, or start popping some caps. With this in mind your best two options are to either refrain from fighting, or be armed to the teeth and prepare to kill anyone who get in your way. Because the last option is not only illegal but also very dangerous to everybody, I suggest you learn the art of to fight without fighting.

  2. i would think boxing.  you need to know how to throw and defend against the punch. It is the likly the first and most common attack by an opponnent.

  3. With a street fight assuming you are there to fight, and the opponent and you both intend to fight, as opposed to being mugged, attacked, or whatever, I'd probably go with Muay Thai Kickboxing. Every modern martial art today seems bent on being a philosophical "last resort" but the ones that ALSO WORK tend to also lack good offensive strategy (such as Aikido). Muay Thai has the advantage of being a rather hard, offensive martial art, as well as training the body to take a hit.

If you just want to look good, try "Tricking", Bagua, or Chaquan (long fist).

  4. Jeet kune do, founded by Bruce Lee, or MMA(mixed martial arts) both are brutallly effective in a street fight, and Jeet kune do was created with a flowing and adaptable technique combining speed power, and thinking... it was almost purley formed for real fights which is why it is so effective in one, although in the end it all comes down to how a good a fighter u are, it makes all the differance.

  5. The ancient art of Gun Shoot Dead practised since the dawn of time in most major cities

  6. you do not want a martial art with traditional stances, go for a martial art like tae kwon do, very agile and graceful.

    BE CAREFUL GRASSHOPPER

  7. running

  8. it is not the art but the artist which makes it work...but wing chun kung fu (the original art of Bruce Lee) is a very good syle for one on one street confrontation due to its close quarter  nature and common sense concepts of attacking the centre and vunerable areas and not stopping until the job is done...BJJ is a close 2nd but the last place you want to be on the street is on the ground where there is always the chance of concrete, glass, kerbs etc which definately kill when you fall on them from 5-6 feet!

  9. The art of not being a big enough A****** to actually get in one. Self defense is different.

  10. Brazillian Jui-Jitsu, I think.  I don't do it but most UFC fighters have to do it to keep in competition... But I think it takes years to learn and even more to perfect.

Best thing for a street fight is brawling tbh.  As long as you can throw a stiff punch then you shouldn't get in too bad... Ermm... Not that I'm reccommending fighting... Even though the thrill of winning is TOPZZ :P

  11. SHOTOKAN!!!!

  12. kugfu jitsu and mabe you shold train first

  13. None ! they wont work when your up against some mad junkie ned tooled up with a knife or a gun... save your cash dont pay for lessons - just make a fist  and punch your pillow..

  14. I'd say Choi Lei Fut, and I will quote Bruce Lee to explain why:

"Choi Lei Fut is the most effective system that I've seen for fighting more than one person and is one of the most difficult styles to attack and defend against. It is the only style (kung fu) that went to Thailand to fight the Thai boxers and hadn't lost".

Choi Lei Fut, is not sports orientated, and it is deadly effective. You can read more about the art here: http://choileifut.com

  15. I think this depends on you.  Some like striking, others like grappling.  I teach Krav Maga, is it for everyone, no.  Some folks love BJJ, I have seen some great BJJ for the street,

I am also a combat SAMBO student, which is a judo base mixed in with whatever the Russian Special Forces and KGB could think of.  Again, not for everybody, but worth a look.

Many of the BJJ schools are very good, but I still marvel at the ease with which the Combat SAMBO master does his thing. In the end, your survival depends on your will to live, no art can give you that.

In Combat SAMBO and Krav Maga, we deal with typical weapons from day 1 (knives, guns, bats, bottles), so we prepare you for survival, which is the goal of any real battle situation.  The rest is up to you.

As a Krav Maga instructor, I can only bring out what is in you, which is the duty of every teacher.  Regardless of the art you study, the rest is in you.

Try a few different systems.  See which one fits.  If the instructors are not dealing with weapons of this century, you may not be in the right place.  Any school worth a darn will give you a free test drive, my school give a week, as do many others.  Schools that don't give a free class or two have something to hide or are not very caring about your choice.

  16. Judo because you can tackle people staright on to the floor and finish them off. and kick boxing is also good it toughens you up.

  17. Not sure if you are looking to defend yourself on the street or not but ~90% of all fights end up on the ground.  You'd be best off directing your interests to martial arts that focus mostly on grappling or wrestling techniques.

  18. the skill of "G'un load'd"

guaranteed to be a winner in 100% of cases, unless you meet another proponent of this ancient art

  19. Not a good idea.
