  1. Wow...not an easy question, it is one you have to answer for yourself.  Try a few places...If you're looking for instant gratification, try Muay Thai, Boxing, Krav Maga or BJJ, all of these arts have a great deal of physicality involved.

I suggest that you try a few schools, most schools have an introductory week, mine does, most of the good schools in my area (Boston Metro area) do.  Ask yourself what your goals are for both short term and long term.  If the goal is immediate Self Defense, any of the arts I mentioned above will fit the bill, add Combat SAMBO to that list.

There are also Chinese Martial Arts, both internal (Taijiquan, Bagua Zhang, Xing Yi) and external...the Kung Fu styles.  the chinese martial arts (CMA) have a steeper learnig curve, but in the end are great for both health and self defense.

As a kid I learned Krav Maga, as an adult I teach Krav Maga, but my real pleasure is Wu style Taiji and push hands.  I also study Combat SAMBO, a cousin to Krav Maga, and a lot of fun, with the ancillary benefit of keeping my hand to hand skills sharp and weapons disarmament sharp.  Like Krav Maga, Combat SAMBO emphasizes weapons defense from day 1.

I am now 50 yars old, I am 5'6", 140 lbs, 5% body fat with great flexibility, I thank Taiji for that..  Over time I have incorporated much of what I have learned from Taiji into my other arts. Classical Taiji is not for the impatient, it usually takes two to three months to learn a classic 108 posture form (Wu, Yang) I have learned both) and then years to incorporate the lessons from push hands into fighting.

MT, BJJ, Combat SAMBO, Krav Maga will give far quicker results. Combat SAMBO and Krav Maga will teach you how to deal with modern weapons (gun, kife bottle, bat) from day 1.

So there is short term, for when you are young and then if you are smart, you will mix a combat art along with an internal art.  I am never so at peace as I am after Chi Kung and completion of the form.  I feel for my friends that can't find that feeling.

The real dilemma is figuring out which hat fits you, so try a few on and then decide.  Good luck on your journey.

  2. i dont know i think all martial arts are bullshit but im in muay thai

  3. Start committing random acts of violence and see where it takes you.

  4. What Martial Arts schools are near your area? How is the instructor? How expensive are the schools? How much effort are you willing to put into the martial art?

Answer yourself these questions and don't waste your points. Nobody here can decide what best martial art is for you, only you can. So don't let people make decisions for you. Make them yourself.

    Good Luck.

  5. contact the mag grava association nearest you. for training in self defense  the israeli defense forces use this as a basic core of training. exceedingly effective against one or more opponents, blending numerous martial art diciplines together. it is useful in many situations in real life as well as being effective in competition, where an opponent is in your face with fist foot knee elbow, knife, gun or other weapon, coming from different directions at once. go to one of their demonstrations and you'll see what i mean. it will surprise you.!!

  6. Ninjitsu,

  7. Jiu Jitsu would be best for you.  Jiu Jitsu is similar to wrestling but also very different.  The art deals with closing the distance between you and your opponent then taking them down and submitting them.  Since you cannot see things far away this would work great for you.

  8. Takwondoe

  9. wing tsun does lots of close fighting and fighting with relfexes by feeling where your opponent is and attack dependingon which way they move to attack

  10. The best common martial art for you is Ninjistu. If you can though, try to pursue something that would suit you even more, which would be Buddo-tai-jistu. It is all about close quarters, which would suit you perfectly. It is about using your enemy against himself, and you could easily use it in a street fight, and it's focuses on grappling and take-downs, so you could legally use this to defend yourself as well. There's no harm defending yourself from a law-suit at the same time, right?
