  1. leather and wood are the 2 common material to make a scabbard.


  2. There are lots of good materials.

    I have one made of leather and that is really good, but it is a not sharp.

    Wood is also good, but should have something on the interior to  keep the sword from dulling.

    Actually those are the only two things I would use.

  3. I had a leather scabbard for a Nepalese "Kukri" (aka "Gurkha" Knife / machete.)

    As soon as I put an edge on it it cut the scabbard to pieces!

  4. Kevlar. It wont dull the blade, it can be made to look like leather and it's more durable than leather. I have a friend who has a steel scabbard with a Kevlar lining.
