I am having about 20 people over tomorrow for a dinner party, I want to make sure that everyone enjoys what they have, I know not everyone will like the same thing, but I'm working with a low budget, so maybe 2 different types of meals.

I am capable of making pretty much anything, so throw some good ideas out there for me please!

Thanks.

  1. You could stay with a themed dinner e.g.,Italian, Asian, Hawaiian, Bar B Que, etc. Keeping a theme in mind, it's easy to know what the main course and sides will be. Remember to keep it simple, those are the best dinners.

  2. Dinner party suggests to me a sit down meal rather than snacks at the table.  I would have a choice of 2 entrees.  Chicken is popular and almost everyone likes it.  I would also offer something like lasagna.  I think at least one of these will please the crowd.  Offer a good selection of veggies, salad, and a couple of desserts.  I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

  3. paste and salad with bread

  4. easy! Try to get foods you can prep ahead of time or already come to your home. Catering is a wonderful thing if you can afford it. Call Portillos! If you have one in your area! LOL Good luck

  5. You can't go wrong with spaghetti & meatballs

    also a nice green salad

    along with garlic bread

  6. I would do the one meal thing with 2 or 3 meats and then veggies with them to choose from

the cheaper meats to fit into the budget would be pork steaks, hamburger, fried salmon patties, bb ribs, hot dogs if children are invited. Then for veggies mash potatoes, can veggies corn, peas, bake beans, pasta salad, mcncheese, these are all cheap and good but then you can also go with lasagna or pasta dishes because pasta or tacos isn't very expensive either. then i would do corn bread and rolls

then back a cake because the mix isn't that high neither is the icing or bake brownies anything that comes in a box it's higher if you buy it already made.

All these items will give them a variety and it would only take me 1 or 1 1/2 to prepare myself and it isn't going to cost a ton you can pick and choose the veggies to your budget and the same with the meats.

  7. asian food or italian

  8. grass & dirt surprise

  9. get some cornished hens base them with butter add salt and ground pepper and stuff them with oranges.  For veggies i would use  spinach with olive oil and cloves of garlic  or asparagus and some twice mashed potatoes.  Very easy and delich.

  10. Have nachos and a salad option. They're easy to make, and well, everyone loves nachos! Also, you could try making a nice punch and cake.

  11. kid cuisine and popsicles

  12. Parmesan Crusted Chicken

    Ingredients:

    20 chicken breast fillets

    10 egg whites, lightly beaten

10 cups finely grated Parmesan cheese

    Cracked black pepper

    Directions:

Preheat the oven to 390 degrees F. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Dip the chicken b*****s into the egg whites, then toss in the combined Parmesan and pepper to coat. Place in the baking tray and cook for 15 minutes or until the chicken is golden and cooked through. Serve with a simple rocket and tomato salad. Serves 20.

Note: You must use good quality Parmesan for a crunchy crust.

  13. Well for starters, are any of your friends strictly vegetarian? If so, make sure that one dish is all vegetarian. Otherwise.. try a pasta and a meat combo... Do like fettachini alfredo pasta, and then some kind of lemon chicken b*****s, or chicken ala orange, or maybe chicken kiev.. with a side of maybe grilled vegetables? Something with variety.. just make the two sort of related, but totally different so they have options. It's simple, yet classy, and fits into your low budget... add some salad and fresh baked bread (if you have a home bread maker)

Good luck with your party! Sounds delicious :)

  14. hiya?

fish dish - i would recommend salmon or tuna steaks? maybe on a bed of mixed lettuce leaves and some balsamic vinegar and to finsh squeeze of lemon salt and pepper?

meat dish - for a meat dish i would recommend you get a beef joint, leg of lamb or ham? for beef just add oil salt and peper and oven cook? for the leg of lamb do the traditional minted lamb? and maybe do your own honey glazed ham with cloves? your can serve all these meat dishes with caramelized onions and garlic potatoes or sauted potatoes with sweet carrots and fresh peas?

vegetarian dish - a good idea for a vegetarian dish i think would be a vegetable stir fry? it's a little bit mre exciting than the normal pasta bakes? think how many veggies you can add to this stir fry? and there are loads of sauces you can buy to add from the supermarket? plum sauce, black bean sauce, sweet and sour sauce, soy sauce? and the veggies to add are endless?

side dishes - make your own garlic bread on a grill (it's always nicer when you make it yoursel)

make your own onion rings? sliced onion rings dipped in soda water batter? you could also spice them up with some cayanne pepper or chilli powder? or even try some with curry powder?

hope ive helped you with your dinner party? have a great time!
