  1. You can't really say which ones are best for bipolar, but rather what is good for each individual. Usually people with bipolar take an antidepressant, a mood stabilizer, a neuroleptic, and an anti anxiety drug, and a sleeping medicine. For each of these category there are numerous different drugs, so it takes a lot of experimentation when working with the doctor to find out which ones work best for that particular person.

  2. I have a family member with BiPolar.  His current meds are:

    20mg Prozac - once  a day

    15mg Hydroxyzine - three times a day

    .1mg Clonidine - three times a day

    10mg Dexedrine - twice a day

    25mg Risperdal - twice a day

    Hope this helps!!

  3. I think that the doctors prescribe the meds based on your own body chemistry and its reactions to it.  You should consult a doctor as to what treatment is best for you.

  4. i take 20 mg of prozac everyday. it really helps me!!

  5. Bi-polars shouldn't take just anti-depressants. They should take mixed medicines that have small doeses of it in them. seroquel is pretty good but its an anti-psychotic also used for mood disorders.

  6. I take abilify & lexapro and they have done wonders for me as I am borderline bi-polar
