  1. Midol generally works very well for me, but there are a variety of OTC menstrual cramp medications that do pretty much the same thing. Most are made up of: a pain reliever (acetaminophen/Tylenol or ibuprofin), a diuretic, and sometimes caffeine.

  2. Take Aleve a couple days before your period starts so that its in your system. When it comes on take 800mg motrin. You have to get it prescribed. you will hardly feel any pain. And you have to take that motrin with food.

  3. you can take aleve, advil(ibuprofen), midol. although midol can cause allergic reactions and doesnt work for me

  4. midol.

  5. How about a regular pain killer? It doesn't work?

  6. Try eating a banana and using a hot water bottle first (while laying on your side with your knees bent).

If that doesn't help, take one Advil.

  7. i was prescribed a painkiller called Ponstan Forte for my period cramps, according to a friend studying Pharmacy this works by thinning out the blood, thus easing the pain of cramps. As aspirin also thins the blood, perhaps this is an alternative if your doctor has not prescribed anything.

  8. I always found that pamprin and midol didnt work as well as people claimed. I have take 600 mg of ibuprofen and it worked well with the cramping. I have also had a prescription for Ponstel. It worked as well. But I have had several ovarian cyst, and you can imagine the cramping that goes along with that, and when I have a cyst I take ibuprofen. I hope you feel better soon!
