What is the best men's road helmet?

My budget is around 100 but i'll pay 120. Does The Giro Atmos looks good?

all helmets are the same if you crash one that cost $120 it breaks and if you buy one that costs $20  and crash it breaks so it is better to save the $100 and do something else with it because i will let you in on a secret the reason that you pay $120 for one and $20 for the other you are paying for the name brand not quality!

Your reasoning about expensive ventilated helmets vs. cheap non-ventilated helmets sounds reasonable, but heat tests have pretty much shown it to be false (within reason).

Cheap helmets with no ventilation will be warmer, but once you start getting into the ventilated helmets there really is not much of a difference.

Once you hit the 60 - 80 dollar range the only differences on up to the most expensive ones are cosmetic. However, cosmetic issues are important, and may even contribute to people wearing helmets more.

In recent years I have had the Bell Solair (29.99), the Bell Alchera (84.99), and currently the Giro Monza (104.99). I can honestly say that the ONLY difference I have noticed is that the Giro looks cooler than the Alchera, which looked cooler than the Solair. I do not ride an awful lot, but usually somewhere between 2,000 - 2,500 miles per season. It gives me enough time to test them adequately, anyway...

So buy whichever one you think looks coolest in your price range, but be aware that you can get the same function from 30 dollars upwards.

Edit: One more thing - if memory serves correctly, the Solair was the lightest of the three...

I definitely recommend the Ionos. It's Giro's best model, in my opinion.
