  1. Dont think iam rude .......but there is something i would like to say or correct you first.....there is only one alphabet and that is a to z together....a b c d  and all individuals element of alphabet is know as letters and their combination is known as words......and coming to your questions.......buy books available for children.......and show c for cat in the pic and teach them and then after sometime let them know that c is not only for cat  but  also for cheetah....then tell them the difference they might not understand initially but mind you kids understand things faster than we adults......and patience from your side is very important...hey also try what zain and goldie's quoted in here sounds like it might work and be fun too to you as well as the kid ....one more important thing is .....kids learn lotta things from parents so ......i dont know about you .....but just a word of caution dont smoke or indulge in front of kids they will surely follow you .......hope i answered thank you byeee

  2. Like other answerers suggested: the alphabet song!!

Little kids enjoy singing songs and this tune will be easily associated with the alphabet.

  3. Methods of teaching:

    -Songs and rhymes

-Look into approaches such as Jolly Phonics and LetterLand that are used in England (u can find it online)

-HAve colouring in sheets start with a one day-then children can see the letter and practice the letter shape.

-Maybe have "letter of the week"-you can have a theme table and children bring in items from home that have that letters sound at beginning of it-you can then make labels to stick on them-children get to talk about what they've brought in and see examples of the letter rather than just learning a 'rhyme' ofABCDEFG....

-Best method of learning in my opinion isthrough play rather than sit down worksheets and things.

    Observations:

-Do a narrative-watch them play with letters and find out what letter sounds they are using and if its correct. You can go over theobservation with a a higlight to pick out the letters they have mastered!

-An event sample: set up an activity that is letter based and mark off the letters that the child correct uses during their play. Get children to come up one at a  time or two at a time to play the game as its easier than observing a whole group.

-Records such  be kept in an achievement record to be shown on parents/passed on to school

  4. Give the kids examples, using their names, Maybe everyday  or every week  use a student's name to represent the letter of the day, then all that week have them pratice writing the letter... and words that begin with the letter and you can reference animals for the uncommon letters. like xyz

maybe you can make a game out of it and give rewards like stickers or ink stamps on the hand

  5. teach them a-z

  6. You can have them sing the alphabet. But you can also have them write (for example:A is for Apple....and then they can draw and apple...like have them make a little booklet or something).

  7. Students first need to understand that letters are symbols that make sound and when you put them together they make words.  They also need to understand that words go together to make speech and written sentences.  Once students are aware of written expression then it is time to begin teaching letters.  Most children come into kindergarten knowing the alphabet song, but that does not mean that they know each letter and its sounds.

Frogstreet Press has some really good books, songs for teaching the alphabet.  I usually do letters of high frequency first A,M,S,T...  I teach two letters a week beginning the third week of school and usually finish between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  At the same time you need to be teaching phonemic awareness skills like rhyming, word segmentation, syllables, etc. so that once you hit reading full force (usually during the second semester) your students are fully prepared.

  8. Alphabet cards

These are cards that help children to learn the alphabet. These also help children how to write letters and how to form words. It is important that these alphabet cards will be colourful and easy for the children to understand. Some of the alphabet cards are so helpful to the children that they learn how to spell different type of words. When they spell the word they will learn how to write it. This alphabet cards will also help children to function their intellectual and are also a fun game for them to spend their time with.

  9. teach them like a  song so that they will remember the song n it will b ec 4 them

  10. In my opinion bring nursery rhyme cassette in  which  alphabet song is there and play . Children pick up very fast after listening to these songs.Try out...........

  11. SONG IS THE BEST IDEAA!!!! andd while ur teaching the song maybe u can help them pronounce the letters..but singing the song everyday willl make them remeber!!

ABCDEFG...HIJKLMNOP...QRSTUV...WX...Y and Z ....NO MY NO MY ABC...next will u sing with me=)

  12. sing it with them

children quikly learn the words to songs

and then they can learn the meaning after they no the song
