there is no "best brand" of dirt bike, it all comes down to what kinds of things you like on your bike. All major brands are great bikes. KTM, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki make incredible bikes.

KTM may cost a little more, but that bike is amazing!!!!!

As long as you stick to one of the well known brands you should be fine.  Ktm tends to be the dearest, but perhaps look at the kawasaki or suzuki.  If you are intending on buying second hand just be prepared to watch the classifieds and any local motocross club for sale sections as from experience with trying to sell used motocross bikes sooner or later someone who is desperate to sell will come along and take a very much reduced price.  You just have to be patient.
