You uncorked the epic and endless debate of which manufacturer is better.

They can all be geared differently to go faster or have more pull, so don't buy a bike off of its stock max speed. Do yourself a HUGE favor and go take a seat on both of the bikes, decide what is most comfortable, then go ride them, see which one handles the best, don't worry about performance as much, you put on a power commander, pipe and intake and they are all pretty dang fast!

Durability, all the "big 4" (Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki) bikes are pretty durable and reliable, just maintain them and they will last you a long time.

R6 for that category, but i'd go Gixxer in the liter bikes. I had an R6 and a gsxr 600 at the begining of this decade and liked the R6 much better than the Gixxer, But in 05, i bought a brand new R1 and loved it till i rode my buddy's Gixxer 1000. I since sold my bike and don't plan on buying but if i do, It will be a GSXR 1000.
