I do not care about the heat. I want the most protection. Leather? A blend? Mesh? Textile? Thank you.

  1. Ultimately, get a jacket your going to be comfortable in.  If you don't care about the heat, leather with armor in the shoulders, elbows and back will offer the best protection.  Textile or mesh jackets also come with armor, they let more air flow through and they are not as heavy as leather.

  2. Leather is the best as far as protection goes, but it will only work if you wear it. That's why I have a mesh Icon Tarmac for summer. I know it isn't the absolute best protection, but when the bike is moving, it doesn't even feel like you have a jacket on at all. I have a nice  Fox Creek leather that I wear when it cools off a little. (Foxcreekleather.com)

One other thing is that in an accident, your hands almost always hit the ground. Gloves are really important if safety is something you think about.

    Have a great time riding.

  3. the best jacked is no jacket!!!! born to be wild!!!

  4. Leather will give you to best protection. also look into a jacket with body armour. Most ballistic materials are also quite good. Not as good as leather but I find the flexability seems to be better.
