What is the best mounting option for a GPS? Dashboard, air vent, or windshield?

For safety reason, I prefer my GPS to be at the same height as my eyes when I look in front of you. Because if the GPS is on the air vent, I can look down and the car in front of me can brake at the same time I look and boom. Now, what is the best? dashboard or windshield?

Also I have a GPS Tomtom 920T. The mount given by Tomtom was bad, it was on the windshield and at some bumps, the GPS fall. So I'm looking for some mount that don't fall and stuck well to the dash or windshield. And also some mount that can easily be removed to go to another car. Also a mount where it's easy to put the GPS on the mount.

I mounted mine on the dash board because of that same reason that it will fall off the glass and make sure that it is legal first in your state because in some states it is illegally..........

Its all personal preference. However you should be sure to check the local law before mounting it on your windshield.
