What is the best municipal course near NYC?

If by NYC you actually mean Manhattan than in any direction there is a good course.

Go South to Brooklyn and you have Dyker Golf Course in Bay Ridge/Dyker Heights area on 86th street

Go North to the Bronx and you have Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course

A little further north, and worth the drive in my opinion, in westchester county on Hutchinson river pkwy is Saxon Woods Golf Course or Maple Moore Golf Course White Plains http://www.westchestergov.com/parks/Golf...

Go east into Queens you have Clearview Park Golf Course on willets point blvd

I suggest the two in westchester county - I live there and have played both courses - the link i gave you will give you all the prices and tel#'s

Well they have had the US Open at Bethpage Black so I would have to say that might be the best.

BETHPAGE by far. its on long island and a ridiculous place(good enough for the US open..must be pretty good)...there are like 5 courses there including the reknowned black course...all of them are cheap to play because its public.
