I am looking to place a number of hourly hires in Kansas City, but don't know the local market and weekly newspapers well, any recommendations?

  1. The Pitch is a weekly paper that many people in KC pick up to read. It's an "alternative" newspaper. There is also a newer weekly or biweekly (not sure which) paper called Ink that I really enjoy, but their help wanted section is not very large...maybe because it is just getting started. Here are links to both of their websites:

    www.pitch.com

    www.inkkc.com

In Johnson County, there is also the Sun newspaper which is distributed twice weekly.

    www.johnsoncountysun.com

There is also a local Spanish speaking/bilingual newspaper called Dos Mundos that you may want to try.

    www.dosmundos.com

If you do decide to go to a daily paper, the Kansas City Star is the leading paper in town.

    Good luck!

  2. I agree, the  Pitch.  If you are looking for something farther away, but with a good reader's base, try the Regular Joe in Saint Joseph.  It is like the pitch, which Saint Joseph does not get.
