  1. Good for you!!  I hope this helps.

You will want to contact your local junior college or community college and find out what resources they have.  Some will be free.  In other words, you don't have to be a student to take advantage of them.  Locally, our community college has free GED classes and tutoring.  Ask them about online options.

Second, find out all of the requirements for taking the GED exam.  When, where, cost, registration, etc.

You might consider doing your own study.  This is called independant study, and I have used it to get through college courses.  You can study for the test on your own while your child is sleeping or watching a video.  Use the library, computer, and even DVDs to help learn the information necessary.  This is almost always free!

When you feel you are ready for the test, hire a baby sitter for the test time and go for it!

You may be encouraged to know you don't have to ace the test, only pass!  Good luck- you can, AND SHOULD do it!

  2. I don't believe that there are any free online virtual public schools that accept students in your age group.  However, there is a site that has a study program for the GED/community college preparation.   It is free-ed.net and the link is below:

    http://www.free-ed.net/free-ed/

There are also other free courses/study programs on this site.

    I hope this is helpful.
