  2. One of the best of Lovecraft's short stories, for those who haven't read a lot of his works, is "Pickman's Model". Creepy and horrifying, and a good introduction to his style.

    Another great one, also for readers new to Lovecraft, is "The Thing On the Doorstep", a nasty and chilling story of possession...
