I live in Canada if that makes a difference, I'm currently taking the Jamesin Prenatal with folic acid. Is that good or is there something better?

  1. In the US, the FDA tested a number of vitamins and on that list was Target Brand vitamins. It was found to not only contain what it said on the label, but also to dissolve correctly.  Many vitamins (including one a day) were found not only to have not all of the amounts listed, but they also didn't dissolve, so you don't benefit.  You could research to find out if Canadian officials have done this as well.

  2. As long as it has 800mcg of folic acid in it it is good. Most prenatals are pretty much the same in terms of ingredients.

I'm in the US and I started out taking just regular old generic pharmacy brand - which my doctor said was fine. It was like $8 for 150. Right now I am taking One A Day prenatal which is considerably more expensive (my husband got them) and they have the exact same ingredient list and there are only 30 pills. Next time I buy them I am buying generic again. I have started taking DHA which is expensive - generic or not.

  3. I've read the labels of different otc pre natals when I go to the store, and I've found they all pretty much are the same.

  4. I have compared a few different prenatal vitamins and they all have the same ingredients.  The cheapest ones I have found are at Costco and they are about half the price of the name brand vitamins.
