  1. Remember every body is different. So that what matters is trying out a pain killer but consider going organic and use herbs and solutions that may be use as an alternative to the meds sold over the counter.

  2. You might be way better off to prevent the problems by taking Australian Bush Flower Essences woman essence it sort of helps balance out the hormones and such so as to be less pain.  the Woman cream some use it on their abdomen if they do get cramps as well.

Australian Bush Flower Healing by Ian White is the book I would recommend there is a whole section on woman problems and a repertory about pain  Emergency Essence with Bottlebrush might be also good for the pain, depends on the cause

  3. an anti-inflammatory, so either ibuprofen or naproxen, which ever you prefer.

  4. I always just took midol and plus I'm on birth control, but really I don't know what the best pain killer would be.  =]

  5. If you want natural, try Scullcap or Vitex (extremely bitter, so drink one dropperful, about 30 drops in 8-16oz of water.  Other things that can help w/ cramps/pain while menstruating would include hot black tea, hops tincture, melissa, valerian, white willow bark, cramp bark, squaw vine, oats and oatstraw tincture or tea, passionflower.  There are many others, find what works for you.  If the cramps are bad enough, I've resorted to Tylenol w/ Codeine before, or Midol or many, many other pain killers.  There's a time and a place for everything, IMHO.  Blessings (and less pain) upon you now.  Try also way cutting back on the yang factor in your diet, that is all red meat, eggs, poultry, not fish so much, as the oils in fish are also anti-inflammatory, and for some women: salt and very salty products like miso, shoyu and tamari as well as canned soups and prepared or restaurant foods.  Heavy, full fat dairy is not good for cramping, either.  For some women, eliminating red meat and butterfats does the trick.  Adding lots of citrus, esp lemon and lime, plus eating lots of things like ginger, cayenne, wasabi, other hot peppers, radishes, horseradish and GREENS! does the trick for many women.  Cranberries, gooseberries and pickles are helpful, too, as are seaweeds and shiitake mushrooms as these last two break down old fats and oils in the body and help it to excrete them more efficiently.
