I just got my wisdom teeth removed, and I've run out of the stronger painkillers they gave me. My mouth hurts a lot and they will not give me more for fear of addiction. What is the best pain reliever for mouth and tooth pain. What is the reasoning for your choice and is there any evidence besides your own experience.

  1. I used orajel a few times myself when i had the worst toothache and couldn't get in the dentist right away and it worked great.

  2. I also didn't use up all of the painkillers I was given. But Aleve has worked when I had other tooth aches.

  3. Extra strength Tylenol would probably be best for this kind of pain.

For sores on the gums, Chloraseptic spray works well.

  4. usually my pains are like minor so maybe ice cream..ice pack or ice cubes! :D

  5. That's weird I didn't need my vicodin at all, it hurt but it was nothing to cry about, I suggest taking about 3 Advil's. Or chew up benadrly it'll numb your mouth but, be careful, cause it could cause irritation.

Benadrly feels kind of like orjel but lasts for 20 minutes, compared to orajel 5 minutes, plus it's cheap. But irritation, better than pain.

  6. Try advil or tylenol, eat soft food until the pain goes away, and use a SMALL amount of ice.
