  1. ummm like a brown creme or brick is always the best answer...... help me thanx :) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

  2. It really depends on your conditions. If you have harsh direct sun or other tough conditions, you want a premium paint. Also, if you want to avoid fading, go for a top brand. But if your conditions are average -- not Minnesota or Texas -- go with any reputable brand.

Some colors are known to last longer -- light and mid-earth tones. Also, in moderate brands, the very deep and dark colors tend to be thin. So if you're going over a light color with a bright or a dark, use a tinted primer first.

One other thing -- painters like Benjamin Moore because it goes on smooth and quickly. Behr paint is perfectly good once it's on, but it's hard to work with. It tends to drag on your brush, and it's harder  to get a nice smooth surface without brush marks. For that reason I (homeowner) won't buy it any more. But it wears fine on the house.

  3. Green or Blue because it has a nice natural colour

  4. I think they are all pretty much created equal, it's which one gives you the best price and color options that tends to win you over.  Whatever you do, don't go with a cheap store brand - those don't tend to hold up well.

  5. Depends on what your painting.

  6. just don't use pink - not a pretty color

  7. You better belive it is.

Quality exterior paint — when it's properly applied over a well-prepped surface — lasts longer than the cheap stuff. The premium line from any manufacturer will almost certainly cover better and last longer than its less-expensive versions

Quality pigments allow a good paint to cover fully with just one coat. Paints with lower-cost pigments often must be applied in several coats. That means more work, which makes buying low-quality paint a poor financial decision. The best pigment is titanium dioxide. Look for it when ingredients are listed on the can.

The solids are what's left on the wall after the paint has dried. Anything over 45 percent is considered good; the higher the level of solids, the better, because you'll wind up with a denser, more durable coating. For example, a gallon of Dulux Exterior Flat contains 52 percent solids by weight. However, be aware that some companies add cheap fillers to beef up the percentage of solids - that makes it wise to stay away from inexpensive paints with a high level of solids. Although you typically won't find information about solids on the label, check with your paint retailer, ask to see product data sheets or fire up your modem and check the company's Website.

Also be sure you pick the right paint for the surface you're covering. Most water-based exterior paints can be used on wood and hardboard siding and trim. They're also fine for vinyl and aluminum siding, and most masonry. On stucco prone to cracking, use an elastomeric paint. It's more flexible than standard coatings and leaves a durable film that's twice as thick (about 5 mil). An example is the stucco paint from Valspar, which bridges hairline cracks to keep out water.

You can also buy paint tailored to conditions in specific regions of the country. Dutch Boy's ClimateGuard line was the first of these paints from a major manufacturer. For example, its Southeast formulation has extra mildewcides for a humid climate, while Northwest paint is higher in solids to resist months of rainfall.

  8. depends on the siding

  9. Sounds like everyone is right on this one. It depends on the ingredients. Some manufacturers add more water then others. Some skimp on the Titanium ,which is the most important ingredient. That is what covers. Anyway you go,there are allot of good paint company's. Glidden, Benjamin More, Bhear (I hate that), Valspar, Frazzee, are just a few. Get a paint with about thirty year warranty on it. True you really don't need it,but those are the best for coverage, durability. I don't like Bhear by the way.

  10. It all adds up to whats called Titanium. Benjamin Moore has the highest level of it therefore making it one of the best paints to use.
