I think you mean a relaxer, not a perm. It depends on your hair type, how coarse it is. The brand is not important, it's just the strength of the relaxer that you need to be careful about. For example, I have African friends who need to use the super strength, and leave it on longer. Even with this, their hair only relaxes slightly. This is because their hair tends to be very coarse and thick. I use the Just For Me childrens regular, and it makes my hair straight in about 10 to 15 minutes.
