Pet insurance isn't a true "insurance" product, and it's not regulated by the insurance industry.

I think you're better off asking your vet this question.

I think there are only 1 or 2 companies that offer pet insurance.

And read the policy carefully before you buy it. Often these policies do not pay for conditions inherent to a breed  (such as slipped disc  in doxies and hip dsyplasia in labs).

I looked into getting pet insurance for my dogs when they were puppies. But for the money, it did not cover that much. I decided it just was not worth the expense.
