  1. I'm getting 40ish MPG (U.S. measure) from my 92 Miata 1.6L

  2. i think it smart car 60 +mpg

  3. nissan sentra, honda civic, acura 1.6 el.... rule of thumb anything with 4 cylinders is good with gas.

  4. Any of the 1 litre engine cars.

    Somehting like a Corsa1.0L

  5. get metro (old) gets around 45

of course, the prius (new) gets like 50 so does the Honda insight

Anything with a really tiny engine is usually pretty good, so most economy cars (civic, carolla, centra, etc.) get around 33 average.

As far as trucks go, ford ranger is pretty efficent, just abount any suv sucks for mpg though

A miata or bmw z3 would be the best choice for sports cars those get around 30.

  6. It is tricky to compare old cars with new, as the test standards for fuel consumption have changed many times over the years.

However, generally the most efficient new cars are more efficient than older cars.

The most efficient petrol cars currently on sale in the UK are:

    Toyota Prius at 65.7 mpg

1.0i versions of Peugeot 107, Citroën C1 and Toyota Aygo (essentially all the same car) at 61.4 mpg

Honda Civic Hybrid, also at 61.4 mpg

    smart fortwo at 60.1 mpg

Daihatsu Charade 1.0 EFi at 58.9 mpg

Kia Picanto 1.0 at 57.6 mpg

Vauxhall Agila 1.0 12v (new model) at 56.5 mpg

Daihatsu Sirion 1.0 at 56.5 mpg

Subaru Justy 1.0 (identical to the Sirion) at 56.5 mpg

    Hyundai i10 1.1i at 56.5 mpg

    Fiat 500 1.2 Dualogic at 56.5 mpg

  7. Toyota Prius (new): 48city/45hwy (new 2008 method)

Honda Insight (old): 61city/70hwy (pre-2008 method)
