Question:

What is the best phone company for house arrest?

Before they accept you for house arrest, you have to get a hard phone line that has no special features (such as call waiting, caller ID, voicemail). And it cannot be cable or VOIP (like Vonage).

It CANNOT be a cell phone, it HAS to be a land line.

I was wondering if anyone here has been on house arrest, and if they have any recommendations for what phone company to go with. I can't seem to find one that will allow you to cancel all special features.

  1. the best land line service is the service that is offered where you live! You cannot live in Verizon territory and get Qwest or Bell South, you HAVE to get the dominate carrier.

You can get plain old telephone service, not special features, from any telco. Some telco's call this "lifeline" service.

no cell, no features, sounds like your calls are going to be monitored.

  2. My uncle was on house arrest and he lived with my gram. They have verizon. They also had all the features so I've never hear of not being allowed to have the features.  PA doesn't force that.

  3. That is the biggest pile of s**t I have heard.

Any telco ie: Qwest, Verizon, AT&T will sell you a line with NO features.

It is federal regulation to provide basic service if requested.

It is called  "single line basic service" an cost between 10.00 to 15.00 $$.

It doesn't take a criminal to ask for that type of service, it is so easy a caveman can do t!
