The rolling stones wrote "Don`t Stop" in their late 50`s

and they sure were close to 40 when they wrote start me up now "Start me up" is a classic i know it`s over played but that being said says it must be a creative song and good if people are still over playing it.

For me, Crowded House's CD Time on Earth, which came out last year, is the best.  Unlike a lot of 80s artists who have been coming out of retirement to do reunion tours, CH have actually reformed as a band, writing and recording, currently working on the followup to Time on Earth.  When you see them live, you'd never know they are in their 40s and 50s... they put on a fantastic show.  

I have to give a shout-out to Tom Waits, who continues to make fantastically creative music, never content to do the same thing twice.

A Matter of Life and Death by Iron Maiden seems like a good modern example, it came out in 06 i believe and all of the band was over 40
