  1. Cafe Orlin on St. Marks has a terrific brunch and outdoor seating-- they seat quickly and are pretty affordable.  Cafe Brama on 2nd Ave is also delicious-- they're known for their french toast.  Prune on 1st Ave is one of my favorites-- they have both creative traditional breakfast items like pear pancake and more adventurous items such as grilled lamb sausage with oysters on the 1/2 shell.

    Enjoy!

  2. Essex house!!!!! With out a doubt!  Its probably a little more LES than East Village but whats a few blocks for really good food and unlimited drinks(its on Essex and Rivington)! technically they advertise it as 2 free drinks but trust me they dont keep count and on several occasions my waitress/waiter just dropped off a pitcher on our table to help ourselves!

  3. I actually didn't really like Yaffa Cafe, but I think it was because we went really early and they had just opened up. But, down the street from Yaffa (heading more east) there's a Cafe Mogador. It's a bit more expensive than Yaffa, but you'll find that it's extremely crowded on the weekends because the food is great.

here's a website with some info on restaurants in the area and it compares yaffa and mogador

  4. I Coppi on Ninth Street and Avenue A serves a great brunch for about $20 - you get a cocktail, coffee, an appetizer and an entree - they make some of the best spaghetti carbonara - there are lots of other choices (brunch is a bargain - at dinner almost all the entrees are more than $20).  There's a nice garden in the back.

  5. In this weather especially, try Yaffa Cafe, very cute outdoor garden and the price can't be beat! Plus it's just an experience, service can be sketchy, but i highly recommend.

Salmon eggs benedict- out of this world!!!
