  1. Walmart or Bestbuy. For that price, I'd go with a Sanyo. But I suggest Canon over everything. But that would include a few more bucks.

  2. Kodak is the brand to go for cheap yet good cameras! Walmart has the C613 for around 100$.  I have one and it is one of the best point and shoot cameras I have ever had! I have had it for about a year now and I like use it every day! It has a lot of the simple modes for taking good pictures. Go to http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.j... for more info.

Also another one i would look into is the Kodak C813 and C713, they are basiclly the same execpt they come with different colors and they have a higher mega pixel rating.

    Go to http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.j...

  3. Look at the Canon A470. It's good, reliable and friendly. It will be a few more dollars than you set as a range, but the camera has a chance to last longer than a year.

Also the Nikon L14 if you can find it, probably around $100 if you do.

I sell cameras and I can tell you straight out: In this product category you get what you pay for. All cameras must take pictures, it's the base requirement. What happens as you go cheaper and cheaper is the life expectancy falls fast!

  4. I'm always searching for electronics to and if their is a "Fry's Electronics" in your area it is a good store they could also ship to you i search on the internet but it is a good store.

  5. Canon and Nikon seem to be popular brands out right now, but my favorite is the FuljiFilm Finepix f45fd.  My recommendation to you is to ask for a demonstration of the camera in the store.  I went to Ritz Camera hoping to come out with a $300 canon powershot camera, but after the demonstration and knowing what to look for, I came out with a better quality camera that only cost about $160!  Although mine is a bit over your budget, mine is perfect for taking pictures at concerts that don't allow flash as well as really sharp pictures for group photos and such!

Find a good store (like Ritz Camera) and ask for a demonstration before you buy it so you know that your not getting a bad camera...I made the mistake of my first digital camera to get a never-heard-before brand camera for $100 at target and it lasted me only 3 months...
