The internet, books.. I have a great one that I've leant out to my sister.. but it shows species with pics and profiles.. I have also have a lot of success talking with people in fish stores.. and visiting different fish stores.  The internet, typing in African Cichlid Lake Malawi should come up with a lot of info.  Also you can do this with google images and you will see lots of pics of Cichlids.  I like to get info from a variety of sources, it helps me to make better decisions.
