I'm looking for WW2 artifacts, helmet replicas or gun replicas as souveniers.

  1. Good, someone that doesn't look for a Walmart for a change....!

Not sure about WW2 artifacts (the Germans aren't really proud of it so much ! ), but a unique shopping experience for tourists would be walking from Königsplatz to the East along the Kaufinger Strasse towards the Isartor. Don't miss the Viktualien Markt almost at the end, to your right.  You might actually find there what you are looking for.

Go on a weekday late morning. Don't go on Sundays.

  2. I have never seen WW2 artifacts over there, ever! You may have more luck in Berlin - especially if you're just looking for replicas. Berlin also has all the big deign houses.    In Munich take the U-bahn or train to the Marienplatz and shop away. You will find everything from mid-priced department stores to very expensive and gourmet stores and tourist souvenir stores in the area.  Personally, I like to shop at Kaufhof, Karstadt and Hertie....those are the not so expendive department stores....I even prefer to buy my souvenirs there, rather than going to the tourist shops.  Also, unique to Munich is the Viktualien markt..which is a big farmer's market where you can also buy take away food and/or sit in their Biergarten.

  3. Munich is good but Berlin is better.  As for WWII stuff.  The Germans are very sensitive about their n**i past.  I've never seen any WWII artifacts on sale.  You can get replica weapons in a large dealership in the underground level of the Europa center in Berlin.  How you get them out of the country is a different story - never heard of terrorism?  To learn more about Berlin - check out www.jbb7994.com
