For US players, it's Full Tilt Poker and Pokerstars.  Stay far away from Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker- they both have had major cheating scandals by members of their company exposed in the last year and should not be trusted.

bodog is very good but sportsbet has some nice "newbie" contests.

Pokerstars by far. A lot of players on the free money sit 'n go

tournaments are realisitically competitive.  For practice it can't be beat.  (Party Poker is the worst).

I love BODOGPoker.com, and DoyelsRoom.com they have the best software, but they do not offer many freerolls... such as PUREPLAY.com

It really depends on where you are located, and what you are looking for.  This site has a few different "top poker site" lists:

But really that is a tough question.  What is best for you may not be best for someone else.  If you want to know the best all around site though, it is Pokerstars.com.  They have the highest traffic, best online tournaments, and biggest variety of games.
